WALNUT COVE Mrs. Irene Landreth Sheldon, 84, died Thursday morning, February 10, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Stokes County on October 28, 1926 to Cecil and Maude Cable Landreth. She was retired from Integon Insurance Company. Her favorite hobby was knitting. Mrs. Sheldon was the Methodist Youth Fellowship Leader for over 20 years and was a member of the Walnut Cove Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. She was a member of Stokesburg United Methodist Church for over 80 years. An 11:00 a.m. graveside service be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Stokesburg United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Updyke officiating. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by three children; Danny Sheldon, of Germanton, Monnie Moser and husband Larry of Kernersville and Lee Sheldon of Walnut Cove, and one sister; Geraldine Smith of Rural Hall. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall, following the graveside service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation for all the kindness and care given to Mrs. Sheldon. Memorials may be made to Stokesburg United Methodist Church, 605 Stokesburg Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove, NC is serving the Sheldon family.
