Ruby Irene Aldrich Hall (nee Brown) was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on February 14, 1916 and passed away in Clayton California on Monday, April 21, 2008 after a brief illness. Her parents were Martin L. and Mollie Brown. She attended Mark Twain Elementry, Washington High School and Nettleton College,
Ruby worked for the Social Security Administration in Boltimore, MD and the Labor department in Washington D.C. in labor realations and conciliations. She married Clayton Aldrich March 4, 1938 and they lived in Baltimore, Fort Dodge, (IA) and Omaha. Clayton and Ruby had two children, Douglas Eugene and Marcia Lynne. After Clayton was killed in action in France during World War II, Ruby returned to Sioux Falls.
On November 8, 1951 she married Euston Hall, with whom she had two children, Kimberly Anne and Tracy Jane. In 1963 Ruby and Euston moved to Clemmons, North Carolina. Euston predeased her on November 12, 1994. In 1998, Ruby moved to Clayton, California and resided there for ten years.
Ruby attended Our savior's Lutheran Church and later served in the Alter Guild and Circle at East Side Lutheran Church. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was active in the Woman's History Club of Sioux Falls. She played duplicute bridge on a weekly basis in Sioux Falls, North Carolina and California.
Ruby was proceeded in death by her parents, two husbands, sister Mildred Hedges, brother Marlin (Lavonne) Brown of Sioux Falls; Doug (Karolyn) Aldrich of Thornton CO; Kimberly (Hassan) Yatim of Clayton, CA; and Tracy (Dave) Smith of Sugar Land TX. She has 11 grandchildren: Mark Aldrich, Allisin Aldrich Janda, Jennifer Aldrich Mishic, Darin Aldrich, Stefanie Chmielewski Statz, Amal Yatim, Malena Yatim, Marisa Yatim, Khaled Yatim, Alexander Smith and Cara Smith. She also has 12 great-granchildren.
Ruby was a stronge and remarkable womean who had a passion for bridge, old movies, writing and history. Her grandchildren fondly remember her stories, incisive intellect, sense of humor and incredible memory. She imparted many fine values to her decendants.
Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cylinder, Iowa on May 3rd, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rodman.
