The tombstone says "69 Years". I have a birth date for Joseph of April 24, 1778 that comes from "family records" copied from a paper found in a box that contained other papers once in the possession of William Wait (son of Henry, grandson of Oliver, born 1805). April 24, 1777 seems to fit better with being nearly 69 years. However, if Joseph really was 69 years of age, then his birth year is 1776. And August 23, 1776 is when his sister Mary (aka 'Polly') was born.
