SALEM - Gerald was born in Baltimore, Md. to Alan and Doris Eckhart on Jan. 15, 1959. He grew up in Wickenburg, Ariz. In 1982 he married Patricia Manning. Their only son, Greg was born in 1983. May of 1983 Gerald became a minister and started a new church in Coolidge, Ariz. The family relocated in 1988 to Albany, Ore. to pastor a young congregation at the Potter's House Christian Church. In the spring of 1991 they moved to Salem, Ore. to establish a new church, while also working as a service man at Judson's Plumbing. He enjoyed serving the local congregation, as well as working with his hands. He loved his family and sharing his faith. He never knew a stranger, and will be remembered by many, because of his friendliness and smile. He is survived by his wife and son, Patty and Greg Eckhart of Salem, Ore.; mother, Doris Eckhart of Prescott, Ariz.; one brother and three sisters and many more family and friends. Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10 at The Potter's House Church, 205 NE Galloway, McMinnville, Ore.
