Mertie Joan Eaves Fontenot

Elton- Funeral service for Mertie Joan Eaves Fontenot, 68, will be held on Monday, June 29, at 3 PM in St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. Father Marshall Boulet and the Reverend Deacon John Eaves will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Mausoleum under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Visitation will begin on Sunday in Ardoin Funeral Home from 11 AM to 10 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM, and will continue on Monday from 7 AM to time of service.

Born in Lafayette on February 18, 1941; Mrs. Fontenot died in Lake Charles at 3:20 PM on June 26, 2009.

Mrs. Fontenot is survived by her husband, Mateas Fontenot of Kinder; one daughter, Patricia Johnston (Richard) of DeRidder; three sons, Randall Eaves (Rose) of Jennings, Matthew Fontenot (Beth) of Austin, TX, and Jason Fontenot (Desiree`) of Kinder; three stepchildren, Phyllis Fontenot of Alexandria, Caroll Reed of Basile, and the late Ronnie Fontenot (Debbie) of Kinder; one sister, Emeline Kilcrease (Rufus) of Grandview, TX, one brother, the Reverend Deacon John H. Eaves of Elton; and her grandchildren Hannah Eaves, Skye Clement, Will Johnston, Kyle Johnston, Madelynne Fontenot and Gabriel Fontenot.

Mrs. Fontenot loved to cook and enjoyed visiting with her friends. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, in-laws, friends and neighbors.
