My GGGrandfather, Samuel David Hood, often documented as D. S. Hood, was born in Georgia to Samuel Tate Hood and Temperance C. Hood. He was married to Mattie C. Cole, probably around 1894. They lived in Choctaw Territory, OK, which later became Hughes County, OK in the township of Calvin. Samuel David Hood was a barber, owning his own barber shop. He and Mattie had four kids: Lee Hood, Myrtle Hood, Jennie Hood, and Essa Hood. Lee and Essa both were barbers as well. Samuel and Mattie divorced around 1910. Mattie lived in Oklahoma City, and Samuel David moved to Dallas, TX where he opened his own barber shop. He died in Dallas in 1917 at around age 46.
