He was an Army veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, having earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He was a member of Sons of American Revolution. He graduated from the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a former English professor at Butler University and Eastern Kentucky University. He was self employed, having worked for Cardinal Media Associates, sales manager for Continental Press in Elizabethtown, PA and managing editor for Zaner-Bloser in Honesdale, PA.
He is survived by his sons, Clifford Hornback (Lisa) and John L. Hornback; daughter, Jean Kay Hornback (William Lenox); grandchildren, Emily, Laura and Patrick Hornback, Zachary and Samantha Lenox, and Katherine Hornback.
Visitation will be Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Floydsburg Cemetery.
