Funeral Was Largely Attended.

The remains of the late Mrs. M.A.E. Maggard, 89, who died in Waxahachie Friday night, were interred in the Grange Hall cemetery west of Cryer Creek at 2 p.m. yesterday in the presence of a large number of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. A. Walker, pastor of the First Methodist church at Blooming Grove, and J. F. Yarber, Geo. Mabry, J. B. Banks, J. W. Harris, J. A. Smith, A. P. Langston, all of Blooming Grove, acted as pallbearers, and members of the choir of the First Methodist church at the Grove, rendered appropriate music.

The deceased is survived by two sons, Hon. W. H. Fears, for many years county attorney and assistant county attorney of Ellis county, and Brown Fears. She is also survived by two step children, Capt. John Maggard, of Emhouse and Mrs. G. W. Prewitt of Blooming Grove.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist church for 64 years, and from girlhood was active in all that pertained to the good of her church. The deceased had been married three times, her last husband being the late David Maggard, for many years a resident of the Cryer Creek community, and many of those who attended her funeral yesterday had been her Sunday school pupil when she lived at Cryer Creek and took an active part in church work there. Those who knew her loved her, and there were few dry eyes yesterday among those who saw her venerable body laid to rest. She was known to all as a woman of rare intelligence and exalted character, and the world is much better for having lived in it.

At the conclusion of the last, sad rites yesterday, the grave was covered by a profusion of beautiful flowers.
