Adaline died on 3 Jun 1889 and on 10 Nov 1895, Sam married the widow Mary E. Pace, daughter of Thomas Jones and Mary Jane Curtis. Mary brought two children into the marriage, William b. 1885 and Mary E. born 1890.
By 1900 the family was living in Crawford County Indiana. Sam and Mary had no children together.
After Sam died in 1909, Mary married Robert Cosby in Crawford County in 1911. Mary died in Dubois County on 12 Feb 1934. Her place of burial is unknown.
Sam applied for an invalid Civil War pension on 10 Aug 1887 and Mary filed for a Widow's pension on 30 Aug 1910.
Sam is buried next to his first wife, Adaline and his son Jacob G. There are many unmarked graves around the area.
