Miss Adda Olivia Shepard, 73 years of age, and better known to hundreds of Ottawa County residents who attended her school as "Miss Ola", passed away Saturday after a three years' illness. She was bedfast only a brief time near the end.

Born at Blooming Grove, Ind., November 28, 1869, Miss Shepard came to Abilene with her parents in 1873. They moved to Lindsey immediately, where her mother passed away in 1876. The family moved to Minneapolis, then to Bennington, where the deceased spent the remaining 58 years of her life.

For many years, she taught in schools of Ottawa County, part of the time in the Delphos schools. Fifteen years ago, she went into the mercantile business with her sister, Miss Carrie Shepard, and retired three years ago because of failing health.

Surviving relatives are three sisters: Miss Carrie Shepard of Bennington, Mrs. Lena Rake of County Line, Okla., and Mrs. Flora Crosthwaite of Bennington; two brothers, McClelland Shepard of Bennington and J.W. Shepard of Chapman; one half-sister, Mrs. Janet Durfee of Laconia, N.H., and two step-sisters, Mrs. Nell Short of Assaria and Mrs. Lou Lockart of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Bennington, Tuesday afternoon, and interment was made in the Highland Cemetery at Minneapolis.
