Funeral service for Mrs. Vera M. Hall, widow of the late Alvin Hall, was held Sunday May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with Rev. Orval Moore officiating. Burial was in the Danville South Cemetery. Mrs. Hall, 82, died Thursday May 16 at the Hendricks County Hospital.
Mrs. Hall was a found and former vice-president of the National Federation of Press Women and a past president of the Indianapolis Professional Chapter of Women in Communications Inc. (formerly Theta Sigma Chi). She was a recipient of the Kate Milner Rabb award, the highest honor given by the group.
She was a past president of the Women's Press Club of Indiana and had served on the board many years. She was the second ever to be elected president of the Indiana Democratic Editorial Association.
In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Hall bought The Danville Gazette, which they published until his death in 1945. She continued as president of Danville Gazette Inc.
She served twelve years as vice-chairman of the Hendricks County Democratic Committee. She was a charter member of the Hendricks County Democratic Women's Club and served three terms on the Advisory Committee of the former State Hospital at Rockville, having been appointed by Governors Welsh and Branigin.
Mrs. Hall is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Atkinson of Florida and Mrs. Eunice Webster, Avon.
