Douglas Hall, age 95, father of the late Alvin Hall, editor and publisher of The Danville Gazette, died December 28 at his home at Lizton after an illness of several weeks. The son of Thomas and Maria (Hickman) Hall, he was born in Kentucky¹ but had lived most of his life in or near Lizton. He was married to Nancy Jane Temple of North Salem in 1880. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon from the Lizton Christian Church of which he was a member, in charge of the Rev. James I. Schockley. Burial was in the K of P Cemetery at Lizton. Survivors are Edgar of Crawfordsville, Maude, Elmer and Nitis of Lizton, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

¹ The 1860 census taken on July 19 in Union Township (Lizton area), Hendricks County, Indiana, shows that Douglas was actually born in Indiana as were several of his siblings. His parents did migrate to Indiana and had at least three children in Kentucky. Family tree records show that they were from Danville, Boyle County, Kentucky.
