Obituary: Lincoln Courier-Herald, Lincoln, IL., November 11, 1924:
DEATH SUMMONS MRS. WM. F. BROWN
Mrs. Winifred Ewing Brown, wife of William F. Brown, a prominent farmer about eight miles northeast of Lincoln, passed away shortly after 6 o'clock this morning at the Deaconess Hospital, where she had been a patient but a short time.
About ten days ago, Mrs. Brown became ill, suffering from an acute attack of appendicitis. Three days ago her condition became extremely serious and Wednesday she was removed to the hospital, hoping an operation could be performed at a later date for relief. However, she gradually grew weaker until death came early this morning.
Mrs. Brown was a life long resident of this county. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Ewing of Lawndale and was born at that place about 48 years ago. Beside her parents and husband, she leaves a son, Vernon Ewing Brown, now of Los Angeles, Cal., who is expects to arrive home Monday according to a message received today. She also leaves on sister, Mrs. William Dunlap of Bloomington and a brother, Fred Ewing, of St. Louis. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Baptist Church in this city.
No complete funeral arrangements have been mad and until more definite plans are complete the body will remain at the Sheets Undertaking Parlors. The body may be moved to the home of Mr. And Mrs. Edward Bouilion on Seventeenth Street to await the funeral services. Mr. Brown in the brother of Mrs. Bouilion.
