Johnny F. Aldrich, age 79, died Tuesday afternoon at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native of Barnwell, S.C., was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during WWII in the Southeast Pacific Theatre. He retired from the US Postal Service in Statesboro. He was a 59 year member of the American Legion, Post 90, Statesboro. Mr. Aldrich was the owner of Aldrich Nursery in Brooklet. He was a member of the American Camellia Society where he registered 18 blooms for his children and grandchildren. He loved tap dancing and performed in several area festivals. He was a member and deacon of the Brooklet First Baptist Church and a member of the Jake Minick Sunday School Class.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Jake A. Futch Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
