A few years later it changed from residence to inn, first as the Gibbs house, later as the Norton House, eventually as the Edgartown Inn. It has hosted such as Daniel Webster,Nathaniel Hawthorne, Senator Charles Summner and John F Kennedy when he was a Senator. [Banks adds "res. Edgartown, master mariner; removed to Hudson, N.Y.
