Abraham "Abe" Caldwell
Abraham "Abe" CALDWELL, 75, Akron justice of the peace for 10 years, died unexpectedly at his residence in Akron at 6 a.m. Sunday of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Caldwell retired from Public Service Indiana in 1965 and had served as Akron JP since that time. Wednesday was Mr. Caldwell's last day as Akron justice, since there duties in Indiana have now been taken over by small clams courts.
He was born April 22, 1900, in Kirklin to Sylvester and Della BOLT CALDWELL. His marriage was June 1, 1930, in Frankfort to Florence SMITH. She survives. Mr. Caldwell had lived in the Akron community since 1939, moving from Kirklin.
He was a member of he Akron United Methodist church, Akron Masonic Lodge, Akron Jonah club and Akron Lions club.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Ruth Ellen) OVERMYER, North Webster; one son Donald [CALDWELL], at home; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Orpha SHORT, Anderson; one brother, Frank CALDWELL, Franklin. A brother and a sister preceded in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Sheetz funeral home in Akron. The Rev. John MOORE will officiate. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of service on Tuesday. The Masonic lodge will conduct memorial services at 7:30 o'clock tonight.
