Mrs McCain, born in Denton County, Tex., had lived in this area since 1887 when her parents settled at Campo. Her father was Edmond Webb, who operated a grocery and boarding house there. Mrs. McCain in 1907-09 operated a Campo hotel.
At 17 she married Robert L. McCain, who inherited the McCain Valley ranch of his father. The young man ultimately developed the enterprise to encompass 40,000 acres in the Jacumba-Boulevard area.
Mrs McCain, an expert horsewoman, often acccompanied her husband on cattle drives.
Surviving are a son; two daughters, including Mrs. Michelle Barber of San Diego; four grandchildre; 12 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Entombment will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.
