Bonnie was born on Oct. 8, 1926, in Woodbine, Iowa, to Paul and Ethel James. She spent her childhood on her father's apple orchard, and graduated from Woodbine High School as the class valedictorian.
Bonnie married Charles Ervin Brenneman Jr. October 28, 1944, at Nellis Base in Las Vegas, Nev. After 60 years of marriage, he died in 2005. The couple had four children, Judy Jo, Ginger Lee, Vickie Lynn and Randall Robert.
She became a swim instructor for the Boulder YMCA for a short time. Bonnie and Charlie enjoyed many years of square dancing and travel.
After her move to Kingwood, she became involved in a group that crocheted hats for premature babies and children with cancer. She also made bags that would fit over the handles of wheelchairs.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Judy McGraw and her husband Larry, Ginger Sweet and her husband Jim, Vickie Brown, and Randall Robert and his wife Kelly; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A portion of Bonnie's ashes will be interned with Charlie at the Veterans Administration Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Her other wish is that a portion of her ashes be spread out at Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
There will be a memorial service to honor Bonnie and Charlie's memory at Rinn United Methodist Church in Frederick Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. There will be a reception following the service.
