ALLEN, Hester E. "Betty" 91, of Steubenville, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Trinity West.

She was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Steubenville, the daughter of the late James A. and Gladys Cheffey McCue, Betty is also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur McCue.

Surviving are her husband, John J. Allen, whom she married Nov. 13, 1940; two daughters, Judie (James) Gilmore of Steubenville and Becky (Carmen) Archangel of Wintersville; four grand children; Schelley Standbrook, Shawn and Scott Gilmore and Renee Silvidi; 10 great grandchildren.

Betty was a Catholic, a member of the Gadabouts and the American Legion Post 33 women's auxiliary.

Calling hours are Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Entombment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Catholic Central High School or to Jefferson Co. Humane Society.
