Birth Family

Naomi Mina Cecelia Bellew Bentley Parker was born on 24 Jan 1898 at Ft Dodge, Iowa. She was the daughter of Joseph Matthew Bellew and Anna Teresa Rinke (aka Annie Bessie Rinke*).

Naomi's parents, Joseph and Anna Bellew, were married on 09 Jun 1897 at Fort Dodge, Webster, Iowa and enumerated in that location in 1910, 1915, 1920, 1925, and 1930. Joseph was enumerated in Ft Dodge with his birth family in 1880 and 1885.

Joseph was the son of Patrick Bellew, # 17015950, and Annie Culley, # 17015943. He was born on 13 Oct 1872 at Fort Dodge, Webster, Iowa and passed away on 08 Feb 1961 at Los Angeles, California.

Annie was the daughter of Joseph Rinke, # 87641724, and Wilhelmina Louise Friedrick, # 130507915. According to the California Death Index, she was born on 28 Dec 1872 in New York and died on 25 Oct 1945 in Los Angeles, California. (Do note that the CDI indicates that her father's surname is Rinkey and her mothers maiden name is Kline.) The 1940 census indicates Anna was born in NY, and daughter, Naomi's, marriage record to Jack Parker says she was specifically born in New York City. However, there is a body of information which calls Anna's birth location into question.

The 1910, 1915,1920, 1925 and 1930 census' were all taken in Ft Dodge and indicate that Anna was foreign born. The 1910, 1915, 1920, and 1930 census' specifically indicate that Anna was born in Germany. The 1925 Iowa state census says she was naturalized and has been in the country for 48 years (ca 1877). Information not confirmed by me indicates that Anna was born in Elenburg, Prensen, Germany.

But in the end, Anna's parents were married in 1869 in New York City, so I am assuming that even though a lot of info suggest otherwise that Anna was indeed born in NYC.

In 1940, as Naomi Bentley, Naomi was residing with her parents (under Bellers in transcribed record) as a divorcee in Councilmanic District 2, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Township, Los Angeles, California.

Marriages

On August 28, 1919, Arthur Bentley and Naomi C. Bellew were married in Fort Dodge, Webster, Iowa. The couple later divorced; apparently between 1927 and 1933.

Jack F Parker and Naomi C Bentley were married on 04 Jun 1942 in Los Angeles, California. This record indicates that Jack was born in Beaumont, Texas, and was the son of John H. Parker (b Ohio) and Mary E. Fuller (b NYC, NY). He was a building inspector for the city of Los Angeles and that Naomi was a pianist that played accompaniments, so of some respectable talent.
