Velma was a daughter of Samuel Gustavos "Gussie" Bean and Lillie Alfreda Bean.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray. H. Smith, Oct. 14, 1981; one son, Robert A. Smith, Dec. 14, 1984; one grandson, Randolph "Randy" Smith, Jan. 7, 1979; three sisters, Mamie Burch, Della Orndorff and Ola Bradfield; and four brothers, infant Howard Bean, Ray Bean, Clyde Bean and Marvin Bean.
She was survived by three grandchildren, Michael Smith, Diana (Smith) Hammond, and Robert Smith,
