Geta Juanita Shaw
Geta Juanita Shaw, 85, passed away on Fri., Feb. 4, 2011, at the Homestead in Sherman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tues., Feb. 8, at Dannel Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Dacus of Victory Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Akers Cemetery. Family visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m.

Mrs. Shaw was born in Hagerman, TX on March 19, 1925, to William Simon Adler Love and Arlie (Cross) Byler. She graduated from High School in 1943 and worked as a salesperson at Gibson's and Montgomery Wards. She was married to L. C. Cordell, and then to Tom Shaw.

Mrs. Shaw loved gardening, especially flowers, and enjoyed working in her yard. She also loved painting with water colors and acrylics. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Mrs. Shaw was predeceased by her parents, both husbands, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by two daughters: Janice Cole and husband Larry of Sherman and Karen Altaffer and husband Steven of McKinney; a son, Gary Cordell of Montana; six grandchildren: Colin and Ben Cordell, Starla and Shannon Hock, Laura and Tony Chancellor, Laramie and Kathy Cole; seven great grandchildren: Danielle and Trevor Bean, Randi, Kendal and Wade Cole; Jesse and Jenna Hock, Sarah and Sally Chancellor; and extended family: Gene, James, Wanda, and Tommy Shaw.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Homestead and Home Hospice of Grayson County for their loving care of Mrs. Shaw.

Pallbearers will be Tony Chancellor, Stanley Nelson, Steven Altaffer, and Keaton Shaver.
