Mary Audrey Penn, 84, of Hemphill, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2012, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.

Audrey was born to Elie Broussard and Myra Marceaux Broussard in Port Arthur, Texas. Audrey had two brothers, Louis and Fred Broussard and a sister, Helen Richards.They all attended Bishop Byrne Catholic School. She married Harry Ray Penn and they resided in Port Arthur until 1978. They then moved to Hemphill, Texas where they resided and he taught her to be an excellent fisherman. Audrey and Harry were active in the Masonic Lodge and V.F.W.

She is survived by her three children; Michael Penn of Parker, Arizona, his wife Nancy and grandchildren, Cassie Walker, Katie Mower, Michael Penn, Jr. and Rhett Penn; Larry Penn of Port Arthur and his wife Jo Ellen and grandchildren Erin Betar and Molly Homuth; and Deborah Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina and her husband Paul and grandchildren Christopher Carter and Jennifer Barnett. She also has 11 great grandchildren; Leora, Audrey, Charlotte, Ethan, Abigail, Carter, Claire, William, Isabel, Samuel and Jordyn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, and by her parents, brothers, and sister.

Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Thursday, January 26, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, TX. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Friday, January 27, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Yellowpine Cemetery.

Audrey was a strong woman who, with Harry, raised up a family that has produced a noble heritage to her and her husband's lives and sacrifices.
