Friday's Shelbyville Republican said: Benjamin F. Sturgis died at the home of Albert Anderson in Marietta, at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, age seventy-two years.
Mr. Sturgis was a resident of Marietta for thirty years, honored and respected by all who knew him.
He was married to Jane Anderson in 1852. She died in 1894, leaving no children.
Mr. Sturgis was a local minister of the Methodist Church for over thirty years and was postmaster of Marietta for twenty years.
The funeral will be held in the M.P. Church in Marietta at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, Rev. J.L. Perry officiating, assisted by Rev. Smith.
Interment in the Miller Cemetery.
