Our precious angel Elena Marie Huerta went to be with our Lord in Heaven on January 30, 2011 at the tender age of 11. In her short time here on Earth, Elena touched many lives with her deep faith, compassion for others, sincere love for life and family, and one-of-a-kind personality. She enjoyed playing with her little sister, dancing, reading, writing, drawing, painting, and numerous arts and crafts. With a strong will and brave heart, Elena fought an amazingly courageous battle with cancer. She never lost faith, never weakened in spirit, and never faltered in strength. Elena's grace throughout her battle inspired many, and her smile brightened the world and will forever be missed. She always did all that was asked of her without complaint and even in her weakest moments considered other's feelings first. She was the best big sister to Elizabeth and taught her so much in their short time together. Elena is loved and cherished by all who knew her. Her legacy should be an inspiration to all to live life with love, compassion, faith, and patience. Elena was truly a blessing and gift to her family and will be deeply and forever missed. She was Daddy's little girl, Mommy's lovebug, Sister's best friend, Grandma and Tia's angelpie, and Grandpa's beautiful baby. We are and forever will be extremely proud of you! She is survived by her parents, Fernando S. and Candace R. Huerta; sister, Elizabeth Anne Huerta; Grandparents: Daniel and Monica Rodriguez, and Raymond and Alberta Huerta; Aunts, Cassandra Rodriguez, Norma Huerta, Rachel Newman; Uncle, Raymond Huerta Jr.; two great-grandmothers; numerous great-aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and her cousin "sister" Julie Benavidez. Special thanks to all those who cared for Elena, especially all those on the 8th floor at Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 P.M in the Angelus Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a memorial fund in care of Elena Marie Huerta at Wells Fargo Bank account #1278765472; proceeds from the fund will go towards a memorial at Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital in Elena's name.
