Roy J. Morlan, 75, of 857 Knox Road 2200N died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Born April 14, 1927, in Ingleside, Ark., to Roy and Julia Talley Morlan, he married Mary L. Swank on Oct. 9, 1948, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Belle (and Edwin) Glass of Woodhull, Linda (and Patrick) Ronk of Galesburg, Janet (and Eldon) Grover of Altona and Cheryl (and Richard) Swanson of Galva; and two sisters, Lela McDaniel of Salem, Va., and Julia Amsbery of Bird City, Kan.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry, in 1973, three brothers and three sisters.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He worked as a welder for Maytag for 37½ years, retiring in 1986.

Graveside services will be at Knoxville Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
