IN MEMORIAM
On Saturday, Feb. 02, 1895, William Sumrall, one of Marion County's oldest and best known citizen, died at the residence of Frank Conerly, near the line of Pike and Marion County. "Uncle Bill" as he was called by all, served several terms as a member of the Board of Supervisors, in which he worked for the interest of his county. He never seemed to care about religious matters until about 8 years ago, when he joined the Baptist Church and lived a consistent member to the day of his death. He said on his death bed that the future was bright and that he had no fear of crossing the river of Jordan. Would to God that we all could say that. He leaves four daughters and a circle of friends to mourn his loss. He was 81 years 4 months and 23 days. A Friend
