Marie Henriette Caroline Schramme was born in Wehdem, Westphalia, Germany; the daughter of Hermann Friedrich "Fritz" Wilhelm Schramme and Caroline Margarethe Louise Schaefer.
Henriette Schramme was baptized April 6, 1856, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wehdem, Westphalia, Germany. Her baptismal sponsors were Charlotte Henriette Westerfeld from Oppenwehe, Margarethe Ilsabein Schaefer from Westrup, and Johann Friedrich Hoegemeier from Wehdem.
Henriette came to Texas with her parents in 1868. Henriette was confirmed on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1870, in the Eben Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin, Washington County, Texas.
Henriette Schramme married Wilhelm Spreen on January 29, 1875, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wiedeville, Washington County, Texas; Pastor F. Ernst performed the marriage ceremony.

MRS. SPREEN, 92 DIES TODAY AT HOME OF SON
Was Oldest Living Member, Prairie Hill Lutheran Church
Mrs. Henrietta Schramme Spreen, aged 92, widow of the late William Spreen, Sr., passed away at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Spreen, of Prairie HIll community, at 11:30 today. Mrs. Spreen was a faithful member of the Prairie Hill Lutheran church. She was the oldest living on the membership roll. Mrs. Spreen was born March 28, 1856 at Wehdem, Germany, and came to this country at the age of 12 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schramme, who settled in the Prairie Hill community. She was married to William Spreen in the year 1875, in the Wiedeville Lutheran church. After their marriage the couple made their home in the Zionsville community, later moving to Prairie Hill where she spent the remaining 66 years of her life. Mr. Spreen preceded her to the grave 28 years ago. Survivors are the following children: F. D. Spreen of Zionsville; Mrs. R. A. Kuhlmann, Brenham; Mrs. Henry Lehmann, Hubbard; John F. Spreen, Prairie Hill; Mrs. T. C. Schulze of Malone; also 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren. Four children died in infancy, and one son, William Spreen, died September 29, 1946. One grandson, Herbert F. Spreen, was killed in action while in the U.S.A. armed service. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of the Leon Simank Funeral home, and continued at the Prairie Hill Lutheran church, with Rev. P. Gogolin officiating. Her grandsons will serve as active pall bearers.
