Fannie Leonora Culver, daughter of Charles William Culver and Bessie Elsworth Culver, was born 9 January 1884 at Dickens, Iowa. She married Maurice Eugene McCurdy 18 September 1907 at Dickens. They resided in Dickens, Iowa, and Lyle, North Dakota, where Maurice taught school and farmed. Fannie died 13 October 1913 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, where she had been sent in hopes of a cure for her illness, diabetes. After her death, her two children lived with their maternal grandparents in Dickens until Maurice remarried in 1818 and the family moved to Washburn, North Dakota.
