Mrs. Reid was a native of Colbert County and a member of Cherokee First United Methodist Church. She joined at the age of 6. She loved being a part of the United Methodist Women, holding office for many years.
All of the members of the United Methodist Women were always very special to her.
Mrs. Reid worked at Reynolds Metals for three years while her husband served in the military.
She owned and operated the only dress shop in Cherokee for five years and Guys and Dolls Kindergarten in Cherokee for 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Nathaniel Reid; son, David Reid; parents, Peter L. Kirsch and Mattie Williams Kirsch; and sister, Janice Kirsch Adams.
Survivors include her sons, Dwight K. Reid, of Cherokee, and Eric L. Reid and wife, Liliya, of Tuscumbia; daughter, Janice Reid Anderson and husband, Bruce, of Huntsville; grandchildren, Ike Reid, Stuart Anderson, Christine Anderson Wilshusen, Nathaniel Reid, Janna Edgin and Nikki Woods; and two great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Stuart Anderson, Ike Reid and Nathaniel Reid, and nephews, Anthony Malone, Andy Bolding and Robert Hyden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walker Kirkland, Lewis Gibbs, Jimmy Carpenter, Olen Bishop, Carter Reid, Spinks K. Brooks and James Belue.
Mrs. Reid had special friends, Joyce Kirkland, the late Wylodean Gibbs, Fay Francis, the late Margie Robison, Wylodean Dubois, the late Pat Harris, and Shirley Keeton. She also had a special relationship with her sisters-in-law.
