James Thomas Walsh was the son of Thomas Walsh & Mary McCloskey. He served as a corporal in the Civil War, in Co D 135 Regt. On Jan 1, 1868, James married Susan (Ursula) Mest of Sheldon, Wyoming Co., NY, in Rouseville, PA. Their children were Charles, Harry, Bessie, Bertha, Mary & Edward Walsh. James worked as a shoemaker & in the oil business. He started a grocery business. Then in 1904 he established an ice cream business at 1426 Fourth Ave., Beaver Falls, PA, which he operated until his death, on August 15, 1910. J.T.'s religious allegiance was with the Presbyterian Church, & he was affiliated with the Ancient Order of United Workmen. He was a Democrat in political action, and for four years was Justice of the Peace of Knapp's Creek, NY, where his business had taken him.
