He was born June 6, 1937, in St. Charles, Va., and served in the U.S. Army for four years as well as the National Guard for 33 years. He was employed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds for 30 years. An animal lover and fan of racing, he was very talented with working on cars and trucks.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Darrell Bailey and Glenda Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Bailey; two children, Charles "Ed" Bailey of Severn and Karan Silas of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; and two granddaughters, Sandy Bailey and Summer Silas.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 1 at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW, Glen Burnie, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit
