Phillip Wayne Giles, 73, of Elkton, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the University Of Virginia Medical Center.

Mr. Giles was born on Feb. 16, 1937, in Roanoke, and was a son of the late William Raymond and Nannie Mae (Kirby) Giles. Phil served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 until 1957. He worked in construction for many years prior to his retirement. In his retirement he greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching NASCAR. Mr. Giles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many.

On Dec. 12, 1977, he married Fonda Williams who survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Giles is survived by five sons, Carl "Butch" Deaton of Valdosta, Ga., Michael Giles of Atlanta, Ga., Dennis Deaton, of Luray, Samuel "Buck" Roach of Strasburg, Justin "Bubba" Correa of Elkton; seven daughters, Maureen Giles Estes of Front Royal, Robin Huffman of Strasburg, Theresa "Terri" Roach of Shenandoah, April Cubbage and husband, Ronnie, of Stanley, Alkini Williams and husband, Curtis, of Nokesville, Olivia Meadows and husband, Jared, of Elkton, and Jasma Bowman of Elkton; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah Smith and Teresa Blakely; two brothers, Billy Giles and James Giles; and a sister, Betty Chieppa.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Feb. 5, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Pastor Jimmy Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
