William Bryan "Bill" Mefford, age 80, of Shelbina, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
He was born February 18, 1929, in Hunnewell, the son of Eugene Weber and Dora Dean Butler Mefford. On February 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Virginia Pearl Johnston. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2006.
Mr. Mefford is survived by four children, Victoria Techau and husband, Robert, of Callao, Violet Simpson Goff and husband, Mark, of Ashland, Connie Regagnon and husband, Zaban, of Shelbina, and Pamela Mefford and husband, Lennie, of Shelbina; grandchildren, Leeann and Bryan Payne, Bobb Techau, Robbie and Casey Johnston, Jimmy Johnston, Sylvia Leftwich, Jerry Fifer, Chance Goff, Tannie and Amber Mefford; great-grandchildren, Hannah Allison, McKenzie and Peyton Johnston, Christian Gough, Christopher Johnston, Cadin Breden, Riley Hill, Bryan and Toby Leftwich, Landyn Epperson and Alysia Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; and five sisters.
He was a Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Shelbina American Legion and the Clarence VFW. Mr. Mefford served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed riding around in the country, tinkering on lawn mowers, going fishing and sitting outside watching cars go by. His greatest joy was the time he spent with is grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Wednesday, February 3, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Funeral services were Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the funeral home with Bro. Lynn Purdy officiating. Burial was in Shelbina Cemetery.
