B. Abbott, 89, Dies At Son's

READING --- Benjamin F. Abbott, 89, resident of 207 N. Union St., for the past 44 years, died Friday evening, at the home of his son, Elson in Petersburg, following a long illness.

He was a retired section man and lived in Carson City before coming to Reading. He was born in DeKalb County, Ind., Dec. 26, 1874, a son of Chauncey and Sarah Dirlim Abbott.

He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys Childs, to whom he was married in 1907; four daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Irene) Baker, Mrs. Clair (Helen) Baker, Mrs. Lynn (Valeda) Myers, all of Montpelier, Ohio, and Mrs. Dallas (Arleen) Boatman, Mesa, Ariz, three sons, Elson, with whom he lived; Floyd, Horton, and Kenneth, Galesburg; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the Hyliard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charles Bloomer will officiate and burial will be in the Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, Ind.
