Served with 2nd GA State Troops from 1864-1865. He enlisted in Columbus, Georgia in July 1864 and served until April 1865 when he surrendered with his unit in Thomasville, GA. Family legend says that since he was not old enough to truly serve, he was allowed to be a guard, possibly at Andersoville.
