Quentin Walter Briggs, 44 year old former Fultonian and mayor of Knob Noster, MO, died at his home in Knob Noster, yesterday following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday at the Sacret Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9 o'clock at the Sweeney-Phillips Funeral Home in Knob Noster.
The body will lie in state at the Maupin Funeral Home here from 2 to 4pm Thursday, when friends may call and interment will be at 4pm in the Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family has suggested that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Briggs was born January 29, 1922, the son of Walter and Jessie McKeever Briggs of Fulton. He was married to Bette Elaine Cook on Aug 31, 1946 in St. Louis.
Besides his parents and his widow, he is survived by one son, Leslie J. Briggs, a sister, Mrs. Walter (Edith) Elwood, Rush Hill, Ill, and three brothers, Robert Briggs of Fulton, William Briggs of St Louis and Joseph Briggs of Columbia.
He was a member of the Sacret Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg and owned and operated Briggs IGA Foodliner at Knob Noster. He was a past president of the Knob Noster Lions Club and the Knob Noster Industrial Corp., a member of the Board of Directors on Community Action Program and a member of the American Legion. He was serving his second term as mayor of Knob Noster.
