JOINER-- Vernon Bland, of Collinsville, was born October 3, 1920 in Crocker, MO to Emmit and Vivian Joiner. He died March 13, 1999 in Collinsville. He was 78. He attended school in Vera where he met his wife, Betty Lyman, later lived and ran a business in Bartlesville and left there to travel with his family across the United States working as a Pipeline Mechanic for H.C. Price. But, during that time, for 35 years, Collinsville was home and where he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of Pipeline Fitters Local Union 798. * He was preceded in death by: his parents and sister, Martha Lee Ballard. Service March 16, 1999, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Collinsville, Dr. Wana Archer officiating. Interment at the Ridgelawn Cemetery by Collinsville Funeral Home. So we always have courage. We know that while we live in this body, we are away from the Lord. And we really want to be away from this body and at home with the Lord (2 Cor.5:6,8).
