Brent Karns, 53, of Boca Raton, Florida, died Wednesday January 19, 2011 at his residence in the loving care of his wife and family after a courageous battle with cancer. Brent was born in Darke County on September 16, 1957 to the late Rex Karns and Sue Karns Stammen, who survives. He was a 1976 graduate of Arcanum High School. He loved all sports, the University of Houston, and the Cleveland Browns. He served in the U. S. Air Force and retired from the city of Boca Water Plant.

Brent is survived by his wife Mary Karns; Mother Sue and husband David Stammen of Arcanum; Brothers Troy Karns and wife Geri, Rod Karns and wife Amber; Sisters Kelly Harmon and husband David, Kandy Rossi and husband Dani; Sister-in-Law Judy Clark; Brother-in-Law Greg Yeakey; Mother-in-Law Ann Shaffer; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Leo.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday January 29, 2011 at Abbottsville Cemetery with Rev. Tim Lehman officiating and the Greenville Area Honor Guard conducting Military Services. There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Darke County Cancer Association, 209 East Fourth St., P.O. Box 781, Greenville, Ohio 45331. Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum in charge of arrangements.
