John N. BARNES

John Newton BARNES, 79, was found dead at his home in Horton Saturday, April 3, 1976. He has lived in Horton the past nine years, had lived in various parts of Brown County during his life. He was a World War I army veteran, was a member of the American Legion Post at Horton. He farmed and for a number of years worked as a road maintenance employee.

He is survived by four sons, Johnnie of San Pablo, Calif., Virgil of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Dale and Gale in California; a daughter, Mrs. Corina JACOBS of California; a brother, White BARNES of Hiawatha; two sisters, Mrs. Annie CHICK and Mrs. Tava POSTON of Hiawatha; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at Chaney Mortuary in Horton and burial was at Hiawatha Cemtery.
