HELEN VIRGINIA NOLAND, 88, of Clinton Avenue, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at her home.
Born May 18, 1916, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James B. and Bessie Tevault Hovermale.
Helen was married in 1941 to Adrian A. Noland, who died in 1982. They were married for 40 years.
She graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1934 and from City Hospital in Martinsburg in 1937, as a registered nurse.
She worked various places, including Fairchild and the Hagerstown Urological Center for 20 years.
She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where she was a member of the Fidelity Sunday School Class.
She was a member of AARP, the Halfway Fire Co. Auxiliary and Halfway Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Ann Mumma of Hagerstown; a grandson, Daniel Noland Mumma of Hagerstown; three sisters, Vivian Conklin of Hagerstown, Marie Larsen of Kirkwood, N.Y., and Betty Caldwell of Leola, Ark.; and one brother, Robert Hovermale of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Procci, and a brother, Dayton Hovermale.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Robison will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
