Son of Homer and Henrietta 'Clafflin' Akers. He farmed in Jackson Township, Livingston County, until he moved to Chillicothe when he went to work for the Milwaukee railroad. On October 6, 1892 he married Cirelda Ann Harper in Livingston Co. She died in 1947. Their children were: Chester H., Leon, Oral, and Mrs E W Young.
