John had land at Munchensies in Halstead near Coggeshall bridge on the left-hand side of the road leading from Halstead to Colchester. In 1563, he made "great additions" to his home perhaps in preparation for his second wife, Katherine. He also built an almshouse at Halstead which had an inscription on the porch, "John Coggeshall did Bild this Hous in AoMD63". His will was proved on Jan. 8, 1600/1, leaving wife, Katherine, as one of the two executors.

3. Katherine, bpt. Dec. 26, 1564, m. Thomas Harrington. Her children named in their grandfathers will in 1600.
4. Elizabeth bpt. Feb. 27, 1571/2, buried at Halstead Feb. 23, 1604/5, m. Rev. John Watson, vicar of Halstead, who was living in 1600. They had six children.
