Mr. R. P. "Rip" Barnhill, age 91, of Crockett, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. He was born October 20, 1919 in Houston County and had lived all of his lifetime in Crockett. Mr. Barnhill was a graduate of Texas A&M class of 1941. He was a veteran of the United States Merchants Marines having served during World War II. Mr. Barnhill was a retired contractor and member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife of 67 years, Faye Colburn Barnhill of Crockett; son, Phillip Barnhill of Crockett; daughter, Becky Barnhill Gilmore of Crockett; grandson, Scott Gilmore of Austin; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by parents, Tom and Estelle Barnhill; sisters, Wyncie Dell Barnhill, Ida Hamilton and brothers, Bill, Tom Lee, Petie and Jack Barnhill.

Funeral services for Mr. R. P. "Rip" Barnhill will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Reggie Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
