Born to William Pompey Blackburn (1849-1917) & Alice Ida Pendleton Blackburn (1855-1930).

Leslie married Orelia Albertson, whose parents were Norwegian, about 1906.

Three children:
• Margaret Blackburn Vanston (1906-1989)
• Imogene Lois Blackburn (1908-1977 in Dallas; unmarried)
• Mary Octa Blackburn Carnes (1910-1988 in Fort Worth; m. Peyton Savin Carnes 1903-1983)

In 1918, he was a self-employed potato broker working in Idaho Falls, ID, while his wife and children lived in Dallas. He claimed asthma as a known physical limitation on his WWI draft card.
