Mr. Stapleton died Saturday, February 21 at his residence, after a brief illness.
Mr. Stapleton was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Stapleton, Clarks; five sons, Johnny Stapleton, West Monroe, Murel Stapleton, Hosston, La., Roy Stapleton, Columbia, Luther Stapleton, Clarks, and James Stapleton, Grayson; three brothers, Lee Stapleton & Clayton Stapleton both of Columbia, and Vinus Stapleton, West Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Ola Windham, Woodworth, La., and Mrs. Mary Weaver, San Pablo, Calif. There were 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Elmer Wilson, Rudolph Stapleton, Carroll Stapleton, Jerry Stapleton, Chesley Stapleton, Jimmy Stapleton, and Wesley Bressett.
