K. Arvin located Mary's tombstone in July 1999. He wrote, "...It was shaded with a lot of old tall trees. I had trouble finding the graves at first ... got my bearings straight..... I looked down at my feet and saw the broken-off top of a headstone lying flat on the ground, and it read "Mary Carle Wife of Richard." There was a broken base nearby that I assumed to be the bottom of Mary's headstone. Those were the only visible markers in that cemetery lot. I got my camera and took some pictures...."
Mary died at the Emerald twp., Paulding County home of her daughter, Harriet J. (Carle) Reid. According to Mary's estate records, she was a resident of Columbiana County, Ohio, at the time of her death.
