DEATH OF J. F. ANDREWS -

After a long and painful illness, James Farrington Andrews passed away at his home in this city Tuesday February 23 at 11:50 a.m.

He was born at South Paris, Maine, July 7, 1833. In 1859 he was united in marriage to Miss Lizza A. Rice and to them were born three children, all of whom survive their parents. Mrs. Andrews died February 27, 1880 in Austin, Minn., and in 1881, Mr. Andrews was again married; this time to Miss Mary A. Thomas, who survives him.

Mr. Andrews came to Iowa at an early date and in 1876 he removed to Austin, Minn.; thence to Manchester, Iowa, in 1880 and in 1897 came to Dunlap, where he has since resided.

He was a member of the M. E. church in Manchester but had never entered his letter in the local church. For seven years he has lived in Dunlap and was universally loved and respected. A gentleman of pure thought and deed, he lived among us, and we had learned to regard him as an ideal man.

The funeral services were held yesterday (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. at the home and under the direction of Rev. A. A. Thompsen, who spoke a few kind and comforting words, after which the mortal body was laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The spirit of his life, the influence, remains to be a monument to the memory of a good man and a good citizen.

Besides his wife he leaves three children, Mrs. Cora R. Patterson of Dunlap, Eugene E. Andrews of North Bend, Neb., and Ernest I. Andrews of St. Paul, Neb., to whom in their hour of sorrow goes the sympathy and fellow grief of the community. - Dunlap (Iowa) Herald.

Mr. Andrews was a resident of St. Paul for several years during the late '80s and early '90s, being engaged with his son Eugene in the furniture business. He was highly esteemed here and many old friends will be shocked to learn of his death. Mr. and Mrs. E. I. Andrews spent the last week of his life at his bedside, returning home after the funeral.
