He retired from the Army with more than 26 years of service as a Command Sergeant Major E-9 with a Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, one for eroism in Vietnam and a Meritorious Service Medal. His assignments overseas included Korea, Vietnam and three tours in Germany.
He worked seven years for Respicare as an equipment technician.
He was a life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
