She was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Nova, the daughter of Clarence and Mary (née Ropp) Bowersock.
She was a 1954 graduate of Troy Township School, Nova. Ellen had lived in Ashland County most of her life, moving to Loudonville in 1979, and had been a resident of Colonial Manor for the past six years. She was a secretary for many years before a period of declining health. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Ellen is survived by her son, Mike Kanzig of Perrysville; two daughters, Chris (Corey) Dormairer and Mary (John) Stone, both of Loudonville; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Bowersock of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert, Harold, Clarence and Milo Bowersock; and two sisters, Cora Witchey and Catherine Edwards.
Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Jeff Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at the funeral home.
